Trenam accelerates strategic growth with new Sarasota office opening
Trenam Law is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Sarasota, FL. This new location marks the firm’s growth strategy to align with client needs as it extends its footprint to address the increasing legal needs for Sarasota’s rapidly expanding business community. Joining Trenam and the new office as a Shareholder is Sarasota-native, Erin Christy. Shareholder Reid Buchanan will also practice in the Sarasota office while splitting time in Tampa.
“Sarasota is among the country’s fastest growing cities because it is a great place both to live and to do business, and our decision to open shop in Sarasota marks our continued commitment to growth in order to meet the legal needs for our clients throughout the region,” said Nelson Castellano, managing shareholder at Trenam. “We look forward to building strong relationships with our clients and the community in Sarasota and continuing to share their growth trajectory for years to come.”
Sarasota ranked second in U.S. News & World Report’s “Fastest Growing Places in the U.S.” for 2023-2024. The significant and rapid growth in the market has driven an increasing demand for legal services in Trenam’s core practice areas, including private client services for high-net-worth individuals, real estate, business transactions and a wide variety of corporate matters.
This new location is Trenam’s third office, alongside the Tampa Bay location that marked the firm’s founding in 1970 and the St. Petersburg location, which opened in 1990.
“Trenam Law has played an integral role in the growth of our region, and this expansion to Sarasota allows the firm to meet the existing client demand while truly deepening the firm’s connections in the Sarasota community,” said Erin Christy. “Individuals and businesses in Sarasota require sophisticated and comprehensive representation across a myriad of industries and I am excited to join the respected team at Trenam to help bring the firm’s known reputation for exceptional service and delivery of high-level results to Sarasota’s doorstep.”
Christy, a native Sarasotan, concentrates her practice in residential and commercial real estate transactions, zoning, and land use law. She has represented clients in a wide range of transactional real estate matters, including representing individuals and businesses in the acquisition, development, leasing, and sale of residential and commercial properties. Christy currently serves as the inaugural president of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) of Sarasota/Manatee, is the past-chair of the Realtor Attorney Joint Committee for the Realtor Association of Sarasota Manatee; served as a member of the Executive Council for the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar from 2014-2022; is a past-president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar Association; and a graduate of Leadership Sarasota.
Buchanan focuses his practice on business transactions, representing investment advisers, investment managers, their pooled investment vehicles, portfolio companies, startup companies, sponsors, and founders. He advises clients on formation, structuring, compliance, financing and corporate governance.
“As a Manatee County resident, I have had the unique opportunity to watch the Sarasota/Manatee market boom in recent years while practicing law in our Tampa office,” said Buchanan. “Like the rest of our firm, I am thrilled for the chance to help contribute to my community and the businesses that continue to drive this vibrant market.”
